About The Position

Working from your home office in Indiana, the Literacy Interventionist will support INCA's Elementary School with the MTSS Model. This individual will coach K- 5th grade students in a virtual environment as they utilize online instruction and materials. Through the use of the telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools, the Reading Interventionist will communicate regularly with parents, students, and teachers to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. The Reading Interventionist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

Requirements

  • Appropriately certified in elementary education in Indiana
  • Strong multi-cultural skills
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS, MS Office programs, and Google Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer-focused approach
  • A high degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player track record
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for state testing events (may require overnight travel)
  • Ability to work remotely

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in reading intervention preferable

Responsibilities

  • Screen students using INCA's benchmarking tools
  • Analyze student learning data on an ongoing and consistent basis
  • Using data, collaborate with and coach classroom teachers to select students who are in need of tiered reading and writing instruction support
  • Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students
  • Provide individual and small group instruction for identified students
  • Confer with the instructional staff on the reading and writing needs of students and provide suggestions of effective interventions and strategies and discrete skill instruction
  • Act as a resource teacher in the area of reading and writing to regular classroom teachers by assisting them in the organization of these programs, selection of materials, and implementation of teaching techniques to ensure the instructional program relates to the special needs of students
  • Model effective intervention instruction to classroom teachers
  • Provide resources for teachers and parents
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons that will increase student understanding. Work directly with students to implement these alternate lessons
  • Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction
  • Communicate with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update intervention goals
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through lessons, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the teachers
  • Keep student records and data up-to-date, including online student and family information, and logging all student and parent contacts
  • Develop and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a "school community"
  • Assist with the administration of state tests and other required state exams
  • Other duties as assigned.
