About The Position

The Elementary Principal serves as the instructional and organizational leader of the school, ensuring that all practices align with the Arkansas LEADS Standards. The principal establishes and advances a shared vision for high levels of learning, develops educator capacity, fosters a positive and inclusive culture, and manages systems that promote continuous improvement in student achievement. The principal collaborates with faculty, staff, students, families, and the community to ensure every child experiences rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or instructional leader.
  • Proven ability to move a school from underperforming to high performing through strong instructional leadership, effective systems of intervention, staff development, and a positive, results-oriented school culture.
  • Valid Arkansas Building-Level Administrator License or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Arkansas LEADS Standards, TESS, PLC processes, RTI, and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Vision, Mission, and Strategic Leadership (LEADS Standard 1)
  • Develop and communicate a clear, shared vision focused on equitable access and high academic achievement for all students.
  • Lead collaborative development and implementation of school improvement goals aligned to district priorities and the Arkansas LEARNS accountability framework.
  • Monitor progress toward goals using multiple data sources and adjust strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Teaching and Learning (LEADS Standard 2)
  • Serve as the primary instructional leader by promoting high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices aligned to Arkansas Academic Standards.
  • Implement the Arkansas Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS) with fidelity, including classroom observations, feedback, and professional growth planning.
  • Ensure effective use of evidence-based instructional strategies, intervention systems, and enrichment opportunities to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Promote the continuous use of formative and summative data to guide instructional decisions and student supports.
  • Human Capital and Professional Capacity (LEADS Standard 3)
  • Recruit, develop, support, and retain highly effective teachers and staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional learning aligned to individual and schoolwide needs.
  • Evaluate staff performance using state and district protocols and support improvement through clear, actionable plans.
  • Build leadership capacity through distributive leadership, mentoring, and collaborative structures such as PLCs.
  • School Culture and Climate (LEADS Standard 4)
  • Establish a safe, orderly, and inclusive environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and student engagement.
  • Implement effective systems for student behavior, attendance, and social-emotional support.
  • Model ethical behavior, professionalism, and cultural responsiveness in all interactions.
  • Promote student voice, leadership, and a sense ofbelonging for all learners.
  • Organizational Management (LEADS Standard 5)
  • Oversee daily school operations including budgeting, scheduling, personnel management, facilities, transportation coordination, and emergency procedures.
  • Develop the master schedule to maximize instructional time and ensure coherent learning progressions.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, Arkansas Department of Education rules, Board policies, and District procedures.
  • Manage resources strategically to support instructional priorities and student needs.
  • Family and Community Engagement (LEADS Standard 6)
  • Build strong partnerships 1,vith families and community stakeholders to support student learning and well-being.
  • Communicate regularly and transparently regarding student progress, school initiatives, and opporhmities for involvement.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and organizations to expand supports and resources for students and families.
