Requirements

  • Candidates for this position must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching certificate with endorsement in Math Specialist.

  • Effectively uses technology to support instruction
  • Mastery of current RESEARCHED BASED PRACTICES, how to implement programs effectively, and the ability to present these practices to large groups

  • Uses problem-solving strategies in all aspects of the work

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to assess individual and collective needs in math instruction
  • Utilizes student data and classroom assessments to inform instructional strategies
  • Provides feedback to teachers on effective mathematic strategies, scaffolded instruction, and assessment techniques
  • Provides feedback to teachers and PLCs to enhance teaching practices
  • Guides teachers in interpreting student data and adapting instructional approaches to address specific student needs
  • Reviews progress towards goals with teachers and adjust strategies as needed
  • Assists in the implementation of the comprehensive and research-based curriculum
  • Works with teachers to align curriculum materials with state standards
  • Brings the latest research and pedagogy in the field of mathematics to PLC meetings
  • Attends regular PLC meetings where teachers can share successes, challenges, and strategies for improving literacy outcomes
  • Encourages collaborative problem-solving and the exchange of best practices among educators
  • Fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
  • Conducts thorough assessments to identify students' mathematical strengths and areas for improvement
  • Utilizes diagnostic tools and assessments to identify specific needs and recommend appropriate interventions
  • Designs and implements targeted evidence-based interventions
  • Provides targeted instruction through small group or one-on-one interventions
  • Provides instruction that aligns with students' assessed needs
  • Progress monitor to adjust interventions and instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to share progress updates and recommend ongoing support
  • Performs other duties as assigned
