About The Position

Foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment that supports students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Design and implement instructional strategies that cultivate student success, ensuring alignment with district curriculum, educational best practices, and state standards. Promote a culture of learning, collaboration, and personal growth to prepare students for future academic and life achievements. Provide music instruction that develops musicianship, technical skill, and artistic expression through structured rehearsal and performance experiences aligned with Fine Arts standards. Prepare students for individual and ensemble performances that demonstrate learning and support participation in campus and UIL-related events.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned (Music EC-12 required for this assignment)
Knowledge of child vocal development and age-appropriate vocal pedagogy for elementary students
Knowledge of general music curriculum and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), including application of Kodály-based instructional strategies
Knowledge of interdisciplinary instructional practices integrating music with core academic subjects and other fine arts disciplines
Ability to prepare students for varied levels of music performance, including auditioned ensembles and children’s choirs
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth
Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability in all interactions and responsibilities.
Advanced organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Knowledge of professional music education organizations and performance standards at the local, regional, and state levels (preferred)
Knowledge of Understanding by Design curriculum framework (preferred)

Responsibilities

Collaborate with district music teachers through the Professional Learning Community (PLC) to support instructional alignment and program consistency.
Provide instruction and feedback to assist students in developing musical skills, technique, and performance quality.
Support and participate in school-approved performances and events, including concerts, performances, competitions, and University Interscholastic League (UIL) activities.
Plan and supervise student performances and productions that support instructional objectives and showcase student learning.
Implement lesson plans aligned with the district’s curriculum, demonstrating written preparation as required.
Deliver engaging instruction using appropriate strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that address diverse learning styles and student needs, following Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Integrate technology effectively into instruction to enhance student learning and engagement.
Assess student learning styles and use results to tailor instructional activities for maximum impact.
Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula and provide appropriate accommodations for students receiving special education services, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Work collaboratively with colleagues to establish instructional goals, objectives, and methods that align with district expectations.
Supervise and provide direction to instructional aides and volunteers, ensuring assigned tasks support student learning objectives.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement using both formal and informal methods to monitor progress and inform instruction.
Support students in developing effective study habits and self-reflection strategies to enhance learning.
Lead and participate in extracurricular activities as assigned, including sponsoring campus principal-approved events that enrich student experiences.
Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism and reinforcing the school district's mission.
Establish and maintain a classroom environment that supports student learning and fosters physical, social, and emotional development.
Manage student behavior effectively, implementing disciplinary measures in accordance with Board policies, administrative regulations, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Ensure the safety and security of students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking necessary precautions.
Assist in selecting instructional materials, including books, equipment, and other educational resources.
Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Understands the importance of following the grading policy.
Enforce school rules, administrative regulations, district policies, and Board directives while presenting subject matter in alignment with established guidelines.
Foster and maintain professional, open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members to support student success.
Communicate information accurately, clearly, and professionally, using appropriate verbal and written skills.
Keep the principal informed of classroom conditions, student needs, and the implementation of new instructional techniques and materials.
Engage in staff development opportunities to enhance job-related skills and instructional effectiveness.
Stay informed of and adhere to all state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Actively participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Participate in professional development, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the campus and district.
