CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION: CERTIFIED JOB TITLE: ELEMENTARY LEAD TEACHER: SUMMER ENRICHMENT CHANDLER ACADEMY FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS (CAPA) SALARY: STIPEND $2112.00 (stipend covers both weeks of instruction) REPORTS TO: SUMMER ENRICHMENT CAPA COORDINATOR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: CAPA Program Dates: June 8 - June 18, 2026 (Mon-Thurs)- 2 Hour Teacher Orientation: Fri., June 5, 2026 (plus 2hr auditions by Band & Orchestra directors only) CAPA Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm Teacher Workday: 8:15am-3:45pm (Lunch 30 mins) Final Performance: June 18 – 2 Hour evening performance Responsibilities include: Choose music for, instruct and conduct a CAPA primary large ensemble Conduct/direct a CAPA primary large ensemble in the final performance Monitor students during break and snack times Plan/teach sectionals and small groups with content including: musicality, drama, rhythmic exploration, tuning and balance, team building, and other large ensemble musical skills Research, plan, and provide opportunities for students to explore connections between music and technology Provide opportunities for students to safely explore innovative tools including technology Work closely with media / technology instructor to help facilitate multimedia projects Other duties as assigned Electives Lead: plan/teach introductory/exploratory lessons related to performing arts. These may include beginning singing/playing, improvisation, and audio production All positions are contingent upon enrollment. Candidates are kept abreast of enrollment numbers and are notified when a class has formally made. Sometimes enrollment doesn’t make for a full position; in that case applicants will be contacted and offered a half position if possible. Job Goal: The lead classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating standards and curriculum into meaningful learning experiences through hands-on instruction. Minimum Qualifications: Continued employment with Chandler Unified School district for the 2026-2027 School Year. Bachelor's/Master's Degree (Music/Theatre preferred) Candidates must possess a valid AZ Teaching Certificate Candidates must posess a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Minimum 1 year of experience in preparing concerts (band and orchestra directors), working with students in 6-12 grades and with general music, orchestra, band, or media / technology classes.
