About The Position

The Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks to hire a full time elementary childhood educator of excellence, committed to anti-racist pedagogy and social justice. The salary for this position will be $69,000. This position will carry the rank of Assistant Professor. Job duties and responsibilities for this full-time, tenure track position include teaching undergraduate and graduate pre-service or practicing teachers in area of specialization; supervising student teachers; advising students enrolled in education programs; serving on department, university, and state-wide committees; and other activities as assigned. Scholarships, including research and publication, are required for tenure and promotion.

Requirements

  • A Doctoral Degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited university, completed by the start of contract
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering diversity across campus
  • A record of strong research contributions in elementary education or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of successful teaching in grades K-6
  • Evidence of ability to integrate social justice issues into the curriculum
  • Experience working with and teaching diverse and multilingual populations
  • Teaching experience particularly in reading, literacy, language development, literacy education, mathematics and social studies at the university level
  • Interest in K-6 community partnerships
  • Experience supervising students in K-6 school settings
  • experience teaching language development including multilingual models of Education
  • experience teaching elementary social studies
  • experience teaching elementary mathematics
