The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Elementary Education, a 9-month, benefits eligible position. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in Education, supervise field experiences, and advise undergraduate students. Teaching can include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats. This position includes scholarly research, professional service, and collaboration with local K-12 schools. The successful candidate will participate in faculty governance in the School of Education, the College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D in a field related to Elementary Education (ABD candidates will be considered if the doctoral degree will be complete by the time of employment)
  • Teaching Experience in a K-6 setting
  • Knowledge of elementary education as a field of teaching, research, and service
  • Skills to teach collegiate coursework in various modalities
  • Ability to advise students in their program of study and about career opportunities
  • Desire to engage in professional service activities in the community
  • Ability to work with faculty and staff in a collegial manner to engage in faculty governance and accomplish goals

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in Math pedagogy
  • Experience in college teaching and evidence of scholarship or scholarly potential
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities
  • A record of professional service activities

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned in face-to-face, online, and/or weekend formats
  • Advise undergraduate students regarding their programs of study and degree progress
  • Conduct scholarly and applied research
  • Serve on committees as part of faculty governance at the school, college, and university levels
  • Collaborate with local K-12 schools and community partners
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director
