About The Position

Pawtucket Public Schools is looking for a self-motivated Elementary School Teacher Dual Language Immersion - Spanish with the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The Elementary Dual Two-Way Immersion Teacher will provide instruction in Spanish with the added responsibility of developing students' ability to effectively perform courses of study in both English and Spanish languages. The dual language immersion program will serve students who are native English speakers as well as students who are limited English speakers. The candidate must be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes high engagement, respect, tolerance, and peaceful problem-solving for all students. This position reports to the principal. Two positions are available, Grade 2 & Grade 3.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required with at least a 2.5 GPA
  • RI Elementary Bilingual and Dual Language (Spanish) Grades 1-6
  • High levels of proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) in both English and Spanish
  • Expertise in using best instructional practices, such as standards-based teaching, instructional assessment, cooperative learning, and differentiated instruction
  • Integrating multicultural concepts across the curriculum
  • Skilled in teaching diverse students

Responsibilities

  • Instructs students through lectures, discussions, visual aids, and other effective teaching methods for student comprehension.
  • Prepares lessons and outlines to use in class that effectively cover the material.
  • Administers various types of assessments to monitor students' comprehension of the material.
  • Monitors students in the classroom, at lunch, or throughout the school by maintaining order and discipline.
  • Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades.
  • Coordinates parent/teacher conferences to review students' performance, behavior, and other issues.
  • Attends faculty meetings, planning, and training sessions.
