Edmonds School District Principals develop and implement an effective learning program to improve student performance; continuously assess the learning program including the curriculum, student performance outcomes, and school climate; create a culturally responsive learning environment inclusive of diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, and linguistic groups' needs; create and implement development activities for the building staff; create a collaborative learning environment; provide instructional leadership; promote high expectations, performance, and achievement from students and staff; promote shared decision making and teamwork; maintain a positive school climate; establish and maintain effective communication with the community, parents, building staff, and central office staff; supervise and evaluate assigned staff; manage the maintenance and use of the physical plant to facilitate the educational program; manage the budget activities for the building following District guidelines and procedures; and participate in District-level decision-making and articulation activities. College Place Elementary is a dual language school providing instruction in both Spanish and English. The school's dual language program is designed to promote bilingualism, biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross-cultural competence for all students. College Place serves a diverse community and is committed to culturally responsive practices that affirm students' linguistic and cultural assets. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of dual language instruction and have experience working in a dual language educational setting. The principal will be expected to support high-quality dual language instruction, collaborate closely with bilingual educators, and foster an inclusive school culture that values multilingualism as a strength. This position begins the 2026-27 school year. Start date is July 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • Valid Washington State Principal's Credential for the elementary level or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Previous school administration and/or teaching experience at the elementary level
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of an instructional framework to guide instructional practices, including experience with Teacher/Principal Evaluation Program (TPEP)
  • Knowledge of dual language instructional models and best practices
  • Relevant experience working in a dual language or bilingual educational setting
  • Fluency in Spanish (oral and written communication)
