Elementary Co-Teacher

American Heritage School AF CampusAmerican Fork, UT

About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time co-teacher to teach elementary students, and more specifically 4th and 5th grade students. This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to academic instruction, teachers are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Part-Time Co-Teacher serves as a key support to both the 4th and 5th grade classrooms, working alongside two lead teachers to ensure a structured, engaging, and well-managed learning environment. This role requires flexibility, strong communication, and a commitment to the mission and culture of American Heritage School. The co-teacher's primary responsibility is to support student learning and classroom management across both grade levels. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining a well-ordered classroom, as effective classroom management is foundational to meaningful learning. The co-teacher is expected to uphold consistent expectations for student behavior, routines, and self-governance in alignment with each lead teacher. Instructionally, the co-teacher will work with the whole class, small groups, reinforce lessons, assist with differentiated instruction, and provide targeted support to students who need additional help. The co-teacher may also assist with grading, preparation of materials, and monitoring student progress under the direction of the lead teachers. Because this role spans two grade levels, the co-teacher must be highly organized and adaptable, able to shift between classrooms while maintaining consistency in expectations and support. Clear communication with both teachers is essential to ensure alignment in instructional practices, classroom routines, and student needs. The co-teacher is expected to follow the lead of each classroom teacher in communication, classroom management, and instructional practices so that transitions between teachers and settings remain seamless for students. In addition to classroom responsibilities, the co-teacher contributes positively to the broader team culture by demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit. This includes supporting grade-level needs as they arise and participating in the shared mission of fostering both academic growth and character development in students. At AHS, we value teachers who are team-oriented, proactive, and committed to creating a classroom environment where expectations are high, relationships are strong, and students are supported in both their learning and personal development.
