About The Position

Abilene Schools USD 435 is looking for an instructional leader, to serve as a principal for Eisenhower Elementary School, which houses grades 4 and 5. The principal will be a valued member of the district's administrative leadership team, working closely with district office leadership and the board of education, while maintaining a positive climate for students and staff in the building. The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: assuring fidelity with our K-12 instructional programming and Multi-Tiered System of Supports, supporting our Mental Health Staff Collaboration, and overseeing an After School Program. This person will also submit several State and Federal building-level reports throughout the year, oversee building budgets, maintain a collaborative relationship with the teachers and staff in the school, and establish family engagement opportunities. The ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing is a must. Building-level licensure required.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership
  • Five Years or More Teaching Experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching.
  • Understanding of Kansas Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Make administrative decisions for the building.
  • Provide instructional direction for the teachers of the building while ensuring fidelity to processes established by the district.
  • Ensure evaluation processes are completed in a timely fashion and guide teacher growth.
  • Participate in and facilitate discussions pertaining to the building.
  • Monitor the implementation of instructional resources.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate technology programs.
  • Assist with the development of parameters and expectations for pursuing district vision.
  • Support teacher leadership during the process of professional learning communities, the building instructional leadership team meetings, and SITE council meetings.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in the organization of all staff development.
  • Assist with the monitoring of district, federal and state grants awarded to the building.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection and assignment of staff.
  • Assume a leadership role for the building's public relations events and communication efforts as observed through newsletters, news releases, bulletins to staff and patrons, building visitations, social media, etc.
  • Support programs as requested by the Board of Education or district-level administration (including, but not limited to: KESA, Title, ELL, Homeless, After School, Virtual Learning, Wellness, State Assessments, KIDS Student Information System, Vision Therapy, Carl Perkins Fund, Vocational, E-rate, etc.)
  • Facilitate professional learning and monitor licensure considerations.
  • Conduct teacher induction process.
  • Assume a leadership role with regard to accreditation.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in teacher and support staff hiring process.
  • Conduct teacher and support staff evaluations.
  • Oversee compliance considerations.
  • Facilitate data-based decision making with teachers and other instructional leaders.
  • Provide direction for staff, teachers, students, and families.
  • Prepare annual building-level budget.
  • Be a positive representative of the school district throughout the community.
