Electropolish (EP) Technician (Days) $22-$31 DOE

PrecinmacAlbany, OR
12d$22 - $31

About The Position

The Electropolishing Technician is responsible for performing precision electrochemical cleaning and polishing on metal components. This role involves managing the chemical bath process to remove surface material, ensuring parts meet strict microscopic smoothness, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic standards. You will work with specialized equipment, hazardous chemicals, and precision measuring tools to deliver high-quality finishes for industries such as aerospace, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3 years in a metal finishing, plating, or chemical processing environment preferred.
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of DC electricity (voltage/amperage) and chemistry.
  • Precision: High attention to detail and the ability to handle delicate, high-value components.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work safely around chemicals and fumes.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications in metal finishing are a plus.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skill in racking small or complex parts.
  • Safety Mindset: Proactive approach to handling acids (Phosphoric/Citric) and electrical equipment.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to adjust process parameters (time, temp, current) to achieve the desired result on various alloys.

Nice To Haves

  • technical certifications in metal finishing

Responsibilities

  • Process Execution: Set up and operate electropolishing stations, including rectifiers, chemical tanks, and rinsing systems.
  • Part Preparation: Clean, degrease, and rack parts onto specialized fixtures to ensure optimal electrical contact and uniform polishing.
  • Chemical Management: Monitor and maintain chemical bath concentrations, temperatures, and pH levels. Perform basic titrations or coordinate with the lab for adjustments.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and microscopes to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements (Ra values).
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tanks, leads, and cathodes. Ensure the workspace remains clean and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs, chemical tracking sheets, and quality inspection reports.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict PPE requirements and hazardous waste disposal protocols.
