Job Summary: Assists cardiologists, interventional cardiologists and interventional radiologists with technical assistance and support. Recognizes normal and abnormal 12-lead electrocardiograms and interpret recordings as they relate to heart disease such as bradyarrhythmia's, tachyarrhythmias, heart block, chamber enlargement and myocardial infarction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in radiological technology, nursing or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Required
  • Radiologic Technologist(RT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist(RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer(CCI-RCS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist(CCI-RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist(CCI-RCIS): Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI-RCS) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or State Radiologic Tech (RT) or CCI-RCES: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Two years' experience in an electrophysiology lab: Preferred
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient procedures, as described in department procedure manuals. Assists electrophysiologists with mapping, pacing, ablation, device implants and imaging procedures. Understands and communicates protocols utilized during an electrophysiology (EP) study and the procedures related to cardiac EP catheter placement when an arrhythmia is induced or during a spontaneous occurrence. Sets up rooms, according to protocols.
  • Assists EP physicians in diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias and neurocardiogenic syncope through support of electrophysiologic evaluations, pacemaker insertion/replacements, ablation procedures, intracardiac echo, PVIs (pulmonary vein isolations), DFTs (Defibrillator Thresholds), & laser lead extractions. Supports physician in performance of tests, cardioversions, and TEEs. Ensure provision of sterile procedural area and works in conjunction with anesthesia and nursing staff to provide optimal patient care. Works directly with program director and hospital leadership to ensure quality data abstraction, ongoing process improvement, and accurate patient billing.
  • Reviews special procedure requests to ensure proper examinations are performed.
  • Completes paperwork and reviews and archives exams, as appropriate. Collaborates to ensure accurate charges and coding.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
