About The Position

Performs the daily operations in the Electrophysiology Laboratory; provides technical support during electrophydiology and pacemaker procedures; provides appropriate patient care during electrophydiology and pacemaker procedures. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned clinical area.

Requirements

An associate’s degree in a healthcare related field will be accepted for this role in lieu of the specialty training program, but the candidate is required to have at least two years of healthcare experience in addition to their associate's degree.
A bachelor’s degree in a health care related field will be accepted for this role in lieu of the specialty training degree, healthcare experience is preferred but not required if candidate has a healthcare related bachelor's degree.
Applicants who hold the ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification.
Graduate from Specialty Training Program- (Required)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months - American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

Performs the daily procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory including radio-frequency catheter ablations, pacemaker implants, ICD implants, tilt table tests, direct current cardioversions, and intracardiac ultrasound- Doppler.
Maintains and troubleshoots electrophysiology laboratory equipment to assure operability and safety; calibrates equipment and performs routine preventative maintenance procedures.
Performs emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures.
Initiates life support techniques in the event of a cardiac and respiratory arrest including CPR, defibrillation, temporary pacemaker insertion and airway management.
Assists the physician in the preparation of the patient; assists during the procedure; and provides all appropriate services to safely and efficiently complete patient procedures.
Provides assistance in evaluation and analysis of pulse generators during pacemaker procedures and pacemaker clinic.
Analyzes and files electrocardiographic data utilizing digital computer analysis systems and paper filing systems.
Practices sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table.
Responsible for primary and secondary hemostasis during and after procedure.
Participates in departmental quality control and quaity assurance initiatives and Joint Commission-mandated educational programs.
Performs appropriate billing for services rendered or equipment used as related to electrophysiology.
Assists with the training and orientation within the department.
Assists with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory.
Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
