The Electrophysiology (EP) Specialist assumes responsibility for the routine care and maintenance of radiological equipment, in addition, assumes responsibility for quality patient care, maintenance of required cath lab and EP competencies and assistance in all aspects of invasive, or non-invasive cardiac procedures. You will explain all procedures to patients to help alleviate anxiety. Your role will work within a team environment with individuals having similar abilities and responsibilities. You will be able to handle emergency situations during high-risk procedures. Your role interacts with physicians during routine procedures, during emergencies and to assist with interpretation of and recording of data collected. You will give primary and critical patient care and administers necessary medications per doctor's orders, per physician's extender, while patient is in the lab. Your role recognizes EKG rhythms, including intra-cardiac rhythms. You will complete assigned supply ordering, evaluate stocking needs on a daily basis, checks expiration dates on medications and on re-usable and disposable items. Your role will assist in transferring patients to and from the Cath Lab for procedures and report to receiving nursing unit all specifics regarding procedure performed.
