About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and team-oriented Electrophysiology Cardiology Medical Director to lead and expand our cardiology program across the UChicago Medicine AdventHealth hospitals in the western suburbs of Chicago. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and grow a new employed cardiology group within a highly rated, multi-site system affiliated with one of the nation’s top academic medical centers. The Medical Director will serve as the clinical and physician dyad-strategic leader for cardiology across the region, driving growth, shaping the vision, and advancing excellence in cardiovascular care. This includes responsibility for quality outcomes, program development, physician recruitment, education, community engagement, and market growth initiatives. Working in collaboration with surgeons, hospitalists, service line and medical group leaders, and other specialists, the Medical Director will play a pivotal role in establishing a thriving, integrated cardiology group that enhances the health of our communities. This position blends clinical practice with dedicated leadership responsibilities, offering the chance to practice medicine while leaving a lasting legacy through program building, mentorship, and innovation. Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years post-fellowship experience
  • Completion of ACGME approved Electrophysiology Fellowship
  • Board certification in Electrophysiology
  • Demonstrated physician leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site hospital system
  • Proven success in program development, physician recruitment, and clinical growth strategies
  • Recognized as a thought leader in Electrophysiology services and treatments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to inspire and engage colleagues, staff, and community stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all EP services across multiple hospital campuses.
  • Build, recruit, and mentor a high-performing employed EP physicians within the group.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative, team-based culture across employed and community physicians.
  • Partner with senior hospital leadership to align EP program development with system-wide goals.
  • Advance quality initiatives, clinical research, and evidence-based protocols to position the program as a regional leader in EP cardiovascular care.
  • Lead community and physician outreach efforts to expand market presence and strengthen referral networks.
  • Balance clinical excellence with administrative leadership to drive program growth and sustainability.
