About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician with an artisan level electrical and/or mechanical background; skilled with design, development, and testing of electrical and mechanical components, assemblies, or systems. Self-starters with a desire to create and build innovative designs should apply.

Requirements

  • High aptitude to learn and follow instructions with little supervision, meet deadlines, be a dependable team player, and have good work ethic.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to solder and rework small PCB components down to 0201.
  • Comfortable working in a Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safe environment.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt on the fly, prioritize and change focus rapidly.
  • 5+ years with the following:
  • Experience using tools and equipment to conduct electrical and mechanical part installation and removal (soldering irons, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, microscopes, reflow ovens, etc.).
  • Experience using tools and computers for diagnostics, maintenance management or general testing (power supplies, Oscilloscopes, signal generator, Digital Multimeter, spectrum analyzer, etc.).
  • An INTERIM or ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade / Technical School Diploma/Certificate a major plus.

Nice To Haves

  • J-STD-001 and IPC certification endorsements (600, 610, 7711/7721).
  • Experience utilizing advanced PCB assembly, manufacturing, and inspection equipment (e.g. Pick and Place, LPKF, X-RAY, SMT/BGA Rework Station, Automatic Defluxing Systems, Automated Optical Inspection Systems).
  • 5 years with the following:
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) systems or component design and fabrication.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Altium, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.) to create, review, and analyze mechanical or electrical designs.

Responsibilities

  • Follow defined processes and procedures to assemble/populate printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Use Soldering Iron to install and/or rework Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and thru-hole components on PCBs.
  • Read and understand engineering, design, fabrication or assembly documents.
  • Ability to define and document issues, collect and organize data, establish facts, and draw conclusions from field notes, technical manuals, lab reports, and bench tests.
  • Integrate electrical and mechanical components into a new design or into existing systems (eg. motors, gears, treads, antennae).
  • Provide feedback to engineers or other design teammates in collaborative environment to promote prototype enhancements.
  • Participate in component level and functional level test events.
  • Conduct general and industry research on items under evaluation to support purchase and design decisions (Should be familiar with researching items through sites such as DigiKey and McMaster-Carr).
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of existing, or prototype systems with an eye for recommendations for future improvement.
  • Professionally care for sensitive or classified materials, concepts, or designs.
