About The Position

The Electronics Technician II applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufactures' manuals, or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequences, in selecting tools, and testing equipment. This technician inspects, analyzes, troubleshoots, and maintains aircraft guidance and control systems (GAC) such as automatic flight control systems, inertial navigation systems, flight instrument systems, and related integrated systems. Advises on problems operating and maintaining aircraft guidance and control systems, associated electronic components, subsystems, and test equipment. Solves maintenance problems using wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, and technical publication by analyzing operating characteristics of guidance and control systems. This technician receives technical guidance, as required from a supervisor or higher-level technician, and is reviewed for compliance with technical guidance and accepted practices. Technician may also provide technical guidance to lower-level technician. This Aircraft Electronics Technician II, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals. The successful candidate applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance. This Technician reads and interprets USAF technical orders, service bulletins, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and best method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of C-130 GAC (2A4X1), aircraft, avionics and electrical system experience.
  • Knowledge to operate and repair the 1553 data bus system.
  • Operational knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair the digital fuel quantity system.
  • Operational knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair the pitot statics system.
  • Operational knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair the autopilot system.
  • Operational knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, repair, and perform downloads of the digital flight data recorder (DFDR).
  • Operational knowledge of the Data Transfer and Diagnostic System (DTADS).
  • Familiar with the Isochronal / Letter Check inspection process.
  • Proficient with using USAF Technical Orders, operating the Data Transfer and Diagnostic System (DTADS) and documenting AFTO 781 Forms
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft avionics and electrical systems (Com/Nav, EW, Sensors, Electro Environmental Systems).
  • Previously performed as 7-Level or Equivalent, Electronic/Avionics Systems Technician with Three (3) years of C-130J flight line aircraft experience.
  • Experience in fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses or a variety of electrical components, and equipment associated with aircraft systems functionality.
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT/HAZWASTE, corrosion control, inspection/repair, maintenance inspection, aircraft launch and recovery, aircraft servicing, towing, and jack/shoring of aircraft.
