This role is an integral part of Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, including Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. The Electronics Fabrication Director is responsible for directing and overseeing all Electronics Fabrication duties and activities. This involves developing and implementing strategies aimed at enhancing the organization's financial performance and competitive positioning through the continuous improvement of production-related processes. The Director identifies and approves changes to processes or procedures that could benefit from improvement or efficiency optimization. Key responsibilities include developing a strategic plan and production schedule to increase profit while reducing overhead, and establishing quality and safety standards while tracking vendor or organizational performance. As a leader within a dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, this individual will define and lead the strategic vision for additive manufacturing at Blue Origin, applying their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to contribute positively to safe human spaceflight. A strong passion for Blue Origin's mission and vision is essential for this role.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in an engineering or manufacturing field.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing in an area such as launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, automotive, medical devices, power generation systems, or electronics.
  • Strong understanding of 3D printing in production, research and prototyping environments.
  • 7+ years management of large budgets or profit/loss at a department, program, project or higher level(s).
  • Ability to coordinate and guide root cause analysis efforts.
  • Leadership experience with fabrication processes, integration processes, systems engineering standard methodologies, test, quality, and configuration management systems.
  • Experience in process definition, development, deployment, and improvement.
  • Customer relations and expectation management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering or technical field, or MBA or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience managing 3D metal and polymer printing in a production environment.
  • Experience transitioning manufacturing capabilities from development to production.
  • Experience managing facility level capital improvements and upgrades.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Aerospace, space launch, military or commercial aviation, or heavy industrial equipment operational leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for additive manufacturing at Blue Origin.
  • Align additive manufacturing initiatives with overall company goals and customer needs.
  • Coordinate the development of new additive manufacturing processes and technologies that are scalable, efficient, and meet quality standards.
  • Increase production capabilities and efficiency of additive manufacturing processes.
  • Champion the digital transformation of manufacturing operations by adopting advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning.
  • Leverage data analytics to optimize production efficiency.
  • Work closely with different programs and departments to integrate additive manufacturing solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing additive manufacturing team.
