Crestron is seeking an Electronics Engineering Manager to lead our Failure Analysis Engineering team in our state-of-the-art facility in Orangeburg, NY. The FAE team performs detailed forensic analysis on electronic products that exhibit poor performance or fail to function. This includes devising test methods to assess the fault, identifying the faulty component, and analyzing the circuit design, the component itself, or the manufacturing process to determine the root cause of the fault. This team works closely with all engineering organizations throughout the company and drives influential changes that make a meaningful impact to Crestron’s customers. This position serves as the leader of the FAE team and will have 5 reports at the engineer and technician level. This is a working manager position – you will be managing the team and also taking on engineering responsibilities for certain product groups yourself. This is a highly technical, hands-on position focused on digital hardware issues and will draw on your extensive engineering experience working with microprocessors, FPGAs, memory (ram and flash), I/O, and common communication interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, and HDMI. Recent design experience in this area, or extensive failure analysis experience with complex digital hardware is a must. The ability to interpret schematics and analyze digital electronic designs will be crucial to success. This role is a great opportunity for an established manager, or for a highly talented sr. level engineer seeking more leadership responsibility. The right candidate will have 5 – 10 or more years of experience working in a challenging electronics engineering role and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics engineering. He or she will possess an extreme passion for solving complex technical problems, as this role is focused on Crestron’s most pressing and urgent technical issues. Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electronics Engineering from an accredited university required
  • 5 – 10+ years experience working in a digital hardware design role or advanced failure analysis role.
  • Prior team leadership or direct management experience in technical/engineering environment.
  • Understanding of PCB Signal and Power Integrity.
  • Experience using various lab tools (DVMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, Optical Meters, and Electronic Loads).
  • Expertise in troubleshooting complex digital circuits and guiding subordinates in such activity.
  • Advanced knowledge of high-speed, microprocessor based digital hardware.
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and collaboration ability within a highly professional organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using simulation tools (PSPICE, Hyperlynx, or Equivalent) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Failure Analysis Engineering team and use the latest tools and techniques to uncover digital hardware design flaws and complex product issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a staff of talented engineers and technicians
  • Onboard new methods and equipment that will increase the diagnostic and analytical capabilities of Failure Analysis Engineering team.
  • Set the team priorities, manage resource allocation and ensure projects are completed on time and to our high standard of quality.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the drafting of detailed failure analysis reports and give final approval prior to publishing.
  • Be the chief representative of the failure analysis team and collaborate with engineering groups throughout the company.
  • Oversee lab safety and ensure compliance with Crestron’s health and safety policy.
  • Other related duties as required.
