About The Position

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise. This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. Archer is seeking a motivated intern to join the Electronics Design team. You will design control boards and sensor systems powering our electric motors, generators, and actuators.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year), Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with SPICE simulation (LTSpice, PSpice) and worst-case circuit analysis.
  • PCB design experience with Altium Designer, KiCAD, or Cadence.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, or FPGAs.
  • Understanding of signal conditioning, ADCs, and low-voltage power supplies.
  • Lab skills with oscilloscopes and soldering.
  • Self-motivated problem solver.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mixed-signal electronics or student competitions(Formula SAE, Solar Car, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate and analyze circuits using SPICE tools (LTSpice, PSpice) to validate designs and perform worst-case analysis and tolerance studies.
  • Design control boards with microcontrollers for monitoring and data acquisition.
  • Integrate sensors for current, voltage, temperature, and position with signal conditioning and isolation.
  • Design low-voltage power supplies for MCUs, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Design PCBs with focus on noise immunity and proper grounding.
  • Build and test prototypes to validate performance against simulation.
