This position works among a team of individuals assembling products for our customers with the occasional guidance of experienced team members. The role entails such functions as assembly, soldering and testing. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred
  • Experience in soldering required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Soldering Certification Required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards.
  • Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities.
  • Basic mathematic skills are required.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office
  • Must possess familiarity with standard parts and tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to understand written work instructions, drawings and schematics for a wide range of products to properly assemble and test the final product to the highest of quality standards and with zero scrap or rework.
  • Assemble components and products of varying size and complexity that includes cleaning, inspecting and automated and manual testing of components and assemblies using testing equipment.
  • Meets the expected assembly timelines that are outlined on the production orders
  • Remain focused on the production orders and assembly responsibilities throughout the day and ask questions when instructions are not understood or clear
  • Cross-train on various functions in order to provide flexibility and support across production operations.
  • Examine parts and materials for defects.
  • Where necessary, set up or calibrate equipment, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports for identification purposes such as test reports.
  • Must maintain a safe and clean working environment through compliance with procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
