About The Position

Maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots and repairs flow meters, PLC’s and associated electrical and electronic process control equipment and their respective components used in the in the operation and maintenance of the Water Protection Facility. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits for lighting and equipment in plant operations. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Skills in electrical circuitry troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics or electrical blueprints
  • Ability to install all types of electrical equipment.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to various systems.
  • Ability to analyze problems and follow through to correct.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)
  • Skills in digital electronics as well as industrial electronics.
  • Ability to design control circuitry relay as well as schematics and line diagrams
  • Required to take call and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • For employees hired into this position after January 1, 2017, the employee must have a Missouri “D” level Wastewater Treatment License or obtain within the six (6) month probationary period.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • All applicants must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in electricity/electronics or related field preferred.
  • Certified graduate of Industrial Electronics Course.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, calibrates and troubleshoots all process flow meters, gas monitoring and flow recording equipment.
  • Maintains and operates Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) – minor programming will be used
  • Removes and repairs/rebuilds electric motors/systems for various machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots relay and control circuits for variable speed drives as well as soft-start and starter systems.
  • Troubleshoots complicated relay and control circuits for electrical systems that may incorporate the use of fluid or pneumatics.
  • Locates and replace defective wiring.
  • Installs new equipment and orders parts for electrical equipment, lighting systems and switches.
  • Assists other electricians as needed.
  • Maintains shop inventory.
  • Monitors and coordinates (through supervisory approval) the installation of new electrical systems with engineers, contractors, and manufacturers’ technicians.
  • Designs and fabricates new circuits to replace defective component parts.
  • Diagnoses electrical issues and electronic issues.
  • Creates and updates all electrical prints as changes are made.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
