About The Position

Under close supervision, the Electronic Technician performs electrical and electronic repair work as required in the maintenance of the RTA’s vehicles and equipment

Requirements

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Must have completed vocational training in electrical/electronic maintenance.
  • Three (3) or four (4) years’ experience reading electrical diagrams, applying the diagrams in diagnosing, repairing, and troubleshooting direct current systems, preferably used in transit vehicles and equipment, such as alternators, generators, relays, circuit breakers, switches, circuit board repair, small electronic repair, and computer-based diagnostics.
  • Ability to drive and possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Tests electrical and electronic circuits using voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, and other diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Installs, removes, and replaces electrical and electronic components on company vehicles and facilities.
  • Maintains and repairs CAD/AVL systems and onboard camera equipment installed on vehicles.
  • Repairs and maintains fare collection systems, including both electronic and mechanical components.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of radio communication systems and related technology.
