Be involved in projects with our Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies focused on transient analysis for utility and industrial/commercial electrical power systems. While candidates are not expected to have expertise in every study type listed below, familiarity with many and a willingness to learn others is highly valued. Our team works across a broad range of technical domains, and we support continuous learning and development. Studies will include the following: Transient (time domain) simulation Insulation coordination for AC and DC applications (lightning, switching surge/bipole failure, and contamination performance) Lightning/surge/voltage arrester sizing and placement Circuit breaker rating studies TRV analysis Transformer Energization Delayed zero crossing Single pole reclosing and associated design (secondary arc current, neutral reactor sizing) Steady state unbalance and transposition studies Equipment minimum approach distance studies Optical shield wire sizing (thermal rating and Coulomb rating) The applicant will get opportunities to engage in transmission planning studies, and experience to support tasks in the following areas is highly desirable: feasibility studies, system impact studies, reactive compensation studies, critical clearing time, stability (transient & dynamic), long/short range planning studies, short circuit, load flow, motor starting, power factor correction, and other related studies. Additional project opportunities in finite-element electric/magnetic field analysis, AC interference, corona prediction, NESC clearance studies, conductor selection, and various other EMF studies may be made available to successful candidates. The applicant should also have experience in collaborating with substation and transmission design engineers to optimize their respective designs. Working knowledge of the design process from conceptual to post energization is preferred.
