About The Position

You will be the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E³) Engineer for the LM MFC Advanced Products team. Our team safeguards every system against harsh electromagnetic environments, ensuring that each product not only survives but thrives under the toughest MIL STD 461/464 conditions. What You Will Be Doing As the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E³) Engineer you will own the end to end electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) lifecycle—from early stage concept through full rate production. You’ll work side by side with electrical, mechanical, and electro mechanical peers, translating program needs into robust, test ready designs.

Requirements

  • BSEE with a minimum of 5 years of E3 experience, or an MSEE with a minimum of 3 years of E3 experience
  • Experience developing EMI/EMC requirements, requirement flow down to subsystems, E3 control plans, design for E3 requirements, and hardware allocation planning
  • E3 design experience with a background in electromagnetic theory, modeling, and practical design support
  • Experience with conducting test events for MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464
  • Proficiency with generating test plans/procedures and reports
  • Knowledge of typical lab test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, RF directional couplers, Oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies, and RF amplifiers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance, therefore you must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • E3 design experience with a background in electromagnetic theory, modeling, and practical design support
  • Work experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory
  • Experience performing testing according to RTCA-DO-160 Sections 18-22
  • Proficiency in TILE!TM (ETS Lindgren EMC automation software) equipment scripts
  • Preparation of test plans/procedures and reports
  • Able to assist with basic troubleshooting, basic interpretation, and test results analysis
  • Experience with vulnerability characterization
  • Knowledge of E3 effects on military vehicles, fire control systems, missile systems, and munitions, including grounding, bonding, and shielding methods, designs to minimize radiated emissions and susceptibility, HIRF, HERO, and lightning effects, electromagnetic field coupling

Responsibilities

  • Designing products that reliably withstand electromagnetic environmental effects.
  • Defining and shaping program requirements using E³ design guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Leading the planning, setup, and execution of EMC test events in accordance with MIL STD 461/464, including selection of instrumentation and creation of test fixtures.
  • Analyzing and compiling test data, collaborating with Integrated Test Engineering (ITE) to confirm that designs meet all requirements.
  • Providing technical expertise for custom test fixture designs and modifications.
  • Working within a multi disciplined engineering team to integrate electrical, mechanical, and electro mechanical solutions.
  • Acting as the primary interface with suppliers and customers, communicating technical findings clearly and professionally.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and promoting an inclusive, collaborative culture that values diverse perspectives.
