Electro‑Mechanical Technician, Compressed Air Systems Location: Frederick, MD to Westminster, MD Join a Team That Solves the Toughest Problems Bring your mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills to Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Technologies and Services Division. Requirements

  • 2+ years troubleshooting industrial or commercial mechanical systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with a clean record—no major or frequent violations (e.g., DUI within 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple recent infractions/preventable collisions within 3 years).
  • Ability to work in equipment rooms with noise, extreme weather exposure, precarious locations, and high‑voltage risks in accordance with NFPA or equivalent standards.
  • Capability for hands‑on work: frequent use of hands/fingers; walking, stooping, kneeling; and lifting/moving within safety policy limits.
  • Microsoft Office and general computer proficiency; comfortable with smartphones/tablets and networked tools.
  • Customer‑focused communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for compressor systems and industrial machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 and/or F‑GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE certifications (refrigeration experience valued).
  • Background in compressed air systems, centrifugal technologies, and controls; startup experience on rotary and centrifugal compressors.
  • Knowledge of dryers, cooling towers, and filtration systems.
  • Education in Electrical/Electronic Technology or HVAC, including AC/DC circuits, schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity/controls, and refrigeration systems; refrigerant certification.
  • Military or equivalent mechanical experience; candidates without formal schooling but with relevant skills are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and service rotary screw, reciprocating, and Centac/ECC air compressors and related components (dryers, filtration, cooling towers).
  • Use precision tools and diagnostic techniques to uncover root causes and implement fixes.
  • Educate customers and internal teams (sales, service trainees) on proper operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of installation/repair practices; leverage operations and parts manuals.
  • Produce clear, detailed service documentation suitable for billing and factory reporting.
  • Operate with integrity while managing expenses, timecards, and company assets (including credit cards and, if assigned, a company vehicle).
