About The Position

The Electro-Mechanical Tech works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The Technician is primarily responsible for ensuring that production equipment is at maximum uptime and in good repair. Troubleshooting skills and strong mechanical/electrical/instrumentation aptitudes are essential for success. Electro-Mechanical Tech Level 1 must be able to demonstrate Maintenance Mechanic Level IV skills in addition to a functional knowledge of electronics and electrical power distribution. The technician must be able to perform duties to install, maintain and repair electrical and electronic components of production equipment including motors, drives, automated systems, controllers, and perform repair to facilities electrical systems as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated and verifiable journey level maintenance skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work from Ladder Diagrams.
  • Five (5) years industrial maintenance experience.
  • Functional knowledge of MCCs, PLCs, VFDs, Instrument Control Loops and Feedback systems.
  • The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must.
  • 90% of the time is spent in the plant repairing equipment. This may require bending and climbing stairs and ladders on a regular basis.
  • May be required to lift to 50lbs. on occasion.

Nice To Haves

  • Post high school education in industrial maintenance, electronics and hydraulics on PLC is a major plus.
  • Post high school education in maintenance related courses is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain test and troubleshoot citrus juice, oil, and production equipment to include pumps, motors, separators, evaporators, conveyors, elevators and ultra – filtration systems.
  • Maintain, test, and troubleshoot plant utility and power systems to include but not limited to hydraulic systems, boilers, heat exchangers, air compressors, dryers, pumps, seals, shafts, separators, finishers, gearboxes, speed reducers, augers, conveyor belts, CIP systems, ammonia systems, piping, lubrication, MIG/TIG/ARC/ high pressure and sanitary welding.
  • Fabricate parts and production piping equipment as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication on equipment per the PM schedule.
  • Work from electrical code, manuals, schematics, diagrams, prints and specifications.
  • Diagnose, repair, or replace failed instrumentation component and restore the control loop to operational status.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct operating problems with motors, controllers, power circuits, starters, variable frequency drives, automated valve actuators, valve position feedback circuits.
  • Diagnose and repair 120v or 480v power distribution systems and test for proper operation.
  • Alert Maintenance Manager and or Maintenance Supervisor any non-standard condition or parts requirements.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices to include wearing all personal protective equipment.
  • Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices.
  • Assist general contractors as directed with the installation of new or modified equipment.
  • Act professionally toward customers, vendors, and other visitors to the plant.
  • Follow any other instructions of the Maintenance Manager and or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.
