At Northrop Grumman Defense Systems we are seeking an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 to support our Ordnance Electronics Engineering department located in Rocket Center, WV.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of related experience.
  • 7+ years in a management role leading 10+ direct reports on project teams and/or managing technical design teams.
  • At least 7 years’ experience with fuze/ISD design/test, including mechanical design/assembly.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in electronics product lane relating to product design, qualification, and/or production.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership skills as a people leader and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in military product development, transition from Technology Development to EMD, EMD to Limited Rate Production and product life-cycle engineering.
  • Experience with fuze/ISD assembly and test, including mechanical assembly.
  • Demonstrated history of project leadership.
  • Experience with configuration management policies and practices.
  • Experience with quality management system.
  • Proficient in reading technical/engineering drawings and documents.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of electrical and electro-mechanical engineers supporting a variety of ISD and Fuzing programs.
  • Actively manage direct reports in areas such as career goals, training and development, expectations and accountabilities.
  • Provide continual feedback with respect to their individual performance levels, including the performance evaluation process.
  • Conduct resource planning, allocation and management to meet staffing and department budget goals.
  • Collaborate with and direct engineers to ensure program goals are understood & achieved, technical solutions satisfy customer requirements, and product development adheres to and complies with internal processes and standards.
  • Form close working relationships with program managers, IPT’s and Government technical leaders on ISD and Fuzing programs.
  • Manage preparation of documentation items (plans, reports, etc.) required by contract.
