About The Position

The Opportunity In this early career engineering role, you will join Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration business in North America, supporting power quality and grid-connected solutions that help modernize and reinforce the electric power system. As part of the Power Quality Engineering Early Career Program, you will rotate through multiple engineering disciplines, gaining direct exposure to real-world projects that support reliable, safe, and high-performing power grids. Your work will contribute to the design, study, testing, and delivery of technical solutions used by customers across the energy sector. You will learn how grid integration projects are developed from proposal through execution, while building technical depth across systems, electrical, mechanical, controls, and studies engineering. Through hands-on assignments, collaboration with experienced professionals, and close interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, you will see how engineering choices influence quality, cost, schedule, and safety outcomes. The program is designed to strengthen both your engineering foundation and your professional practices, enabling you to contribute to operational excellence, sustainability goals, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will grow your skills, expand your perspective, and build a strong platform for a long-term engineering career in the power industry.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Senior undergraduate engineering student with preferred concentrations in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an interest in building organization, planning, and communication skills

  • Background in Electrical Power Systems is a plus
  • Desire to develop business and leadership skills while working on operational engineering projects

Responsibilities

  • Build knowledge of the Grid Integration business, including products, operations, customer needs, and industry landscape
  • Rotate through engineering disciplines to gain hands-on experience across systems, electrical, mechanical, controls, and engineering leadership functions
  • Support the development of engineering solutions using complete, coordinated, and multidisciplinary technical information
  • Contribute to new technical solutions for complex projects and engineering challenges
  • Support proposal activities by introducing innovation, cost-saving ideas, and value-added design concepts
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, contractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders to drive improvements
  • Complete risk and opportunity assessments and support the implementation of resulting actions
  • Coordinate related tasks to deliver project activities on time, within budget, and in alignment with quality and safety requirements
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
