About The Position

The Electromechanical Technician supports manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, controls, and mechanical systems used in a personal care contract manufacturing environment. Working under the direction of the Controls Engineer, this role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, automation performance, compliance with GMP standards, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as an electromechanical or automation-focused maintenance technician.
  • Experience in personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food, or GMP-regulated manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with servo drives, VFDs, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Ability to use multimeters, diagnostic tools, and standard hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while following technical direction.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable supporting production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to [e.g., 50 lbs].
  • Work around energized equipment, moving machinery, and automated systems.
  • Use of PPE in a manufacturing and GMP-controlled environment.
  • Flexibility to support off-shifts, weekends, or overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting PLC programming changes (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Understanding of industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP or Profinet.
  • Knowledge of FDA or cosmetic GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical production equipment, including filling, labeling, capping, cartoning, and packaging machinery.
  • Maintain conveyors, servo systems, VFDs, sensors, actuators, and motion control components.
  • Support PLC- and HMI-controlled manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Assist the Controls Engineer with diagnostics, modifications, and optimization of automation systems.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and validation of new or upgraded automated equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, I/O layouts, P&IDs, and layout drawings.
  • Troubleshoot motors, drives, control panels, safety circuits, and basic networking issues.
  • Perform wiring repairs and component replacements in compliance with electrical codes.
  • Support automation changeovers and recipe-driven production adjustments.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical components such as pumps, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, and cam systems.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic systems including valves, FRLs, cylinders, and air logic components.
  • Support minor hydraulic system maintenance as required.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in the CMMS.
  • Support root cause analysis for recurring equipment or automation issues.
  • Recommend reliability and automation improvements in collaboration with the Controls Engineer.
  • Perform all work in accordance with GMP, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Ensure repairs and changes comply with validated processes and documentation requirements.
  • Support audits and inspections by providing technical input and documentation.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and machine guarding procedures.
  • Work closely with the Controls Engineer, production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Provide technical support during startups, troubleshooting events, and major changeovers.
  • Assist in training operators on equipment functionality, alarms, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to automation, safety, and efficiency.
