About The Position

UPMC is hiring a Full-time Electrician to support the hospital in Harrisburg. To be considered, candidates must have electrical experience and be prepared to provide their own hand tools, while UPMC will supply power tools and specialty tools. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm, though additional hours may be required to meet department standards. The final job title and salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on their education and experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Two years general maintenance-related work experience OR completion of a trade school required (for General Maintenance 2-Electrician).
Trade school or trade specific multi-discipline certificate required (for Journeyman 1-Electrician).
2 years' experience as an Electrician working in a healthcare or commercial building environment (for Journeyman 1-Electrician).
Completion of trade school program which includes such items as blueprint reading, electricity, machine shop work, mathematics and physics (for Journeyman 2-Electrician).
Three to four years of hospital or commercial work experience OR what is required by local governing authority (for Journeyman 2-Electrician).
Knowledge of City, State and Federal codes is required (for Journeyman 2-Electrician).
Valid Driver's License Required

Responsibilities

Maintain and prepare job site/shop.
Perform routine repairs.
Maintain, clean, and inspect electrical lockers, switch gear rooms, generator rooms, etc.
Maintain shop equipment and minor repairs.
Preventive maintenance inspections of exit signs, panels and panel index.
Accountable for the safe operation and maintenance of the hospital's electrical systems and equipment including generators, fire alarm, overhead paging system and nurse call.
Repair and/or install conduit, fittings, motors, generators transformers, electrical wiring and a variety of appliances and hospital equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned
