The Electrician supports SIRE’s operations by installing, programing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems supporting utility and control operations. This position works closely with other departments to ensure SIRE continues to operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Two-year certificate or degree as an Electrician Instrumentation Tech or equal experience with electronic, electro-mechanical and pneumatic industrial instrumentation required
  • Work experience & equivalent to 3 years’ experience in industrial maintenance or related field required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to use test and calibration equipment to calibrate transmitters and control loops
  • Ability to use mathematics and algebra to scale and calibrate process instrumentation
  • Interpret and/or modify PLC control logic as necessary. Install and calibrate pressure, temperature, flow, and level controls
  • Considerable knowledge of electronic instrumentation, process control and electrical systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Basic computer knowledge/skills including Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to work well with others and the ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience with machinery in a manufacturing, grain elevator or agricultural setting, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Installs, programs, inspects, troubleshoots, and adjusts electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems
  • Performs tests and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment; interprets readings and outputs of equipment; ensures proper functioning of equipment
  • Performs basic programming for utilities information systems; programs with ladder logic and relay logic; operates PLCs, RTUs and associated inputs/outputs; operates VFDs; performs telecommunications networking
  • Initiates work orders pertaining to utilities & controls equipment and information systems; ensures work orders are accurate and complete; performs record-keeping functions on CMMS system
  • Serves as a liaison to manufacturers, contractors, company personnel and other internal or external parties with respect to controls equipment, instruments, and related systems
  • Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code and other applicable laws, codes, or regulations
  • Able to be on call for emergency issues
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
