HEM - Electrician (JO 2-25)
About The Position
Under the direct supervision of the section leadman, safely participate in the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of heavy duty electrical/electronic systems and components typically found on transit buses, including but not limited to cranking and charging systems, electronic destination signs and fare boxes, wheelchair lift systems, computerized engine and transmission controls, entrance and exit door systems, etc. Accurately troubleshoots and diagnoses all electrical and electronic systems on heavy‑duty vehicles and buses. Repairs electric wheelchair lift‑equipment, respective to division assignment. Repairs electrical and electronic system components. Uses testing equipment and all other types of trade‑related machinery and equipment. Conducts routine maintenance work aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity.
Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand electrical/electronic schematics and diagrams.
- Ability to operate diagnostic equipment required.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose all electrical and electronic systems found on heavy duty vehicles and buses, and must have strong mechanical/hydraulic repair and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to safely overhaul and/or repair electrical and electronic system components as required.
- Must be knowledgeable of tools and equipment required to conduct all troubleshooting and repairs.
- Must be high school or trade school graduate.
- Must have four (4) years' experience with heavy‑duty vehicle electrical systems and/or automotive electrical systems.
- Must be able to preplan daily work schedules. Maintain proper service records.
- Must be willing and able to work various shifts, overtime as directed, holiday duty as required, and assume days‑off as assigned.
- Must be able to meet standard physical requirements and pass Company‑sponsored medical examination and drug screening.
- Must be familiar with current safety equipment and procedures.
- Must have excellent work performance and attendance records.
- Must meet or be able to meet all present and future license and certification requirements as may be required by City, State or Federal governments.
- Must have valid Hawaii State driver's license with clean traffic abstract and must be able to pass State of Hawaii D.O.T. driving requirements for a "Type B" commercial driver's license.
- Must pass Company‑administered written and oral examinations.
- Must meet or be able to meet all present and future license and certification requirements as may be required by City, State or Federal governments.
- Perform tasks that require heavy physical effort such as lifting, bending, etc.
