Inspect and repair roads by properly maintaining associated tunnels and movable bridges in a professional, safe and cost effective manner that meets VDOT's strategic plan goals. How you will contribute: Diagnose Repairs: Proficiently use electrical test equipment, prints, and diagnostic equipment to accurately analyze mechanical equipment. Isolate malfunction, perform repairs, fabricate and make modifications timely. Job Safety: Determine and demonstrate proper work site protection techniques. Ensure workplace safety by identifying workplace hazards and making suggestions for improvement. Wear proper personal protection equipment. Time Management: Maximize performance and cause no disruption to shift or activities by effectively using time management. Gain and maintain a thorough knowledge of standard operating procedures and other applicable regulations. What will make you successful: Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical malfunctions. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Knowledge and ability to use, read and interpret complex electrical and mechanical reports. Knowledge of AC and DC electrical circuits, low and high voltage electrical circuits, electrical switchgear and heavy duty electrical equipment. Knowledge of control circuits, controls for pumps, motors and various electrical systems. Knowledge of troubleshooting electrical and mechanical malfunctions.
