This position involves determining the routing of wires and conduits, and the precise location and installation methods for various electrical units such as switches, outlets, junction boxes, rectifiers, transformers, and generators. The work is guided by trade practices, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and state, municipal, and underwriters' specifications, codes, and ordinances. The role requires assessing the need for repair or replacement, determining the safest methods for restoring interrupted service, and identifying necessary scaffolding. Responsibilities include computing wire gauge, power, and load limit requirements using charts and handbooks, and installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining a wide range of electrical equipment, including large three-phase motors, transformer banks, welding generators, and complex control panels. The electrician will use precision measuring devices to test circuits, perform complete rebuilding and rewinding of motors and generators, and execute repair and installation work on large cables, including splicing and insulating high voltage taps. Troubleshooting on hot circuits is also a key aspect. The role may require certification under Federal, State, or Local Codes and Ordinances. Additionally, the position involves installing, testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining conventional electronic controls, devices, and systems, as well as performing mechanical operations for the dismantling, repair, assembly, and installation of electrical units. The individual may assist other Electrician Maintenance roles and operate electronic data entry, storage, processing, and/or retrieval equipment.
