The Maintenance Electrician is responsible to the Operations Supervisor. This role works with other craftsmen or crews in the performance of assigned work duties. Must be able to troubleshoot and Identify problems. Makes job assignments, research, and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports. Maintains and repairs all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical distribution systems. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operations upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours. This is a temporary full-time, onsite position on Maxwell Air Force base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years electrical experience.
  • A 2-year technical college degree as Electrical Engineering Technician, or related field. Education requirements can be waived if experience is sufficient.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, TEAMS, FORMS, and Task Management Software. Strong Excel reporting experience: ability to develop spreadsheets and pivot tables to track metrics.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, drive, kneel, squat, bend, crawl, stoop, reach, climb ladders, work in tight spaces.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, heavier items with assistance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government identification/common access card and Security Clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred working toward Electrical Journeyman’s license.
  • Prefer familiarity with government contracting.
  • Prefer experience in Civil Engineering trades.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, installs and repairs all aspects of electrical systems to include, but not limited to, switches, fixtures, motors, transformers, controllers, associated electronic components, distribution and wiring.
  • Modifies, repairs, replaces and maintains component parts.
  • Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Accomplishes periodic inspections, recurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation. Maintains systems to conform to written guidance and applicable changes.
  • Has knowledge of cathodic protection, communication, and grounding systems.
  • Troubleshoots and replaces electrical components on stoves, dishwashers, water heaters, HVAC, and refrigerators.
  • Schedules work and performs quality assurance through job site visits.
  • Maintains all records and other documents required by the Department of Defense, Federal and State regulations.
  • Maintains required operating forms and assures proper and safe use of all assigned shop equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements.
