About The Position

Lithium Americas is a North American resource and materials company focused on developing, building, and operating lithium deposits and chemical processing facilities. The company’s flagship asset, Thacker Pass, is located in Humboldt County in northern Nevada and is the world’s largest known measured lithium source and reserve. We are seeking a Electrician/Lineman to join our Maintenance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical power distribution systems that support continuous site operations. This role is critical to maintaining production continuity, minimizing electrical hazards, and ensuring site infrastructure operates within regulation, electrical codes, and company safety standards. The role is based at Thacker Pass and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent electrical certification (where applicable)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of electrical experience in mining, chemicals manufacturing, heavy industrial, utility, or comparable environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, including mine power distribution voltages
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local electrical safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to safely perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) and verify zero-energy states
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying and extreme weather conditions
  • Experience working with VFDs, PLCs, and automated or electrically controlled site equipment
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and on-call schedules as required
  • Physically capable of lifting 50–75 lbs. and performing physically demanding work

Responsibilities

  • Performs all maintenance activities with a strong safety-first mindset, ensuring strict compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations along with site specific safety standards; actively identifies and mitigates observed hazards, conducts regular safety inspections of assigned areas, and fosters a culture where safe work practices and personal accountability are non-negotiable.
  • Champions site safety standards and promotes open communication within group.
  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high- and low-voltage electrical systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, control panels, and power distribution infrastructure
  • Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines supporting site operations
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical failures impacting mining equipment such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, and auxiliary systems
  • Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states prior to performing work
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance activities to ensure safe operation and OSHA/MSHA compliance
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Install grounding systems and ensure proper bonding of electrical equipment and structures
  • Respond to emergency electrical outages and perform repairs under production-critical conditions
  • Accurately document maintenance, inspections, repairs, and corrective actions in accordance with OSHA/MSHA requirements
  • Coordinate work activities with site operations, maintenance, and safety personnel to minimize downtime and operational risk
  • Participate in safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), hazard assessments, and pre-task risk reviews
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and compliant work areas in accordance with site safety standards
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values
  • Perform other duties as assigned
