As an Electrician/Instrument Mechanic you will install and maintain, test, calibrate and repair all electrical distribution systems and control instruments, whether electrical, pneumatic, or other.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 1+ years of relevant experience/education in industrial plant maintenance, possess an electrician license, a mechanical apprenticeship, the military, a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Able and expected to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and short notice call-ins as required
  • Able and expected to lift 10 lbs. frequently, 25 lbs. regularly, 55 lbs. occasionally; climb stairs, ladders, and columns; stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, utilize visual acuity, reach overhead, hear, and respond to alarms
  • Able and expected to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toed shoes, hardhat, Nomex® clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, hearing protection, arc protective clothing, and respirator as needed.
  • Interpretation and application of National Electrical Code
  • Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team or as an individual
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – Written and Verbal
  • Mechanics are required to be SCBA fit tested and will be required to wear the gear as a requirement.
  • A valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • A degree or Certificate from an accredited college or technical school in the Instrumentation field
  • Journeyman or Master Electrical License
  • Experience with SAP-PM

Responsibilities

  • Conform to plant safety and environmental requirements, accepting responsibility for personal safety
  • Perform safety hazard assessments prior to initiating work to ensure elimination of hazards
  • Complete Lock, Tag and Try (LT&T) procedure on machines to assure equipment is inoperable and safe to work on
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communication with other employees using multiple methods of communication
  • Understand and participate in maintenance reliability programs and processes.
  • Utilize computer and administrative skills for feedback to the Work Management Process and SAP, or as directed by management
  • Other duties as assigned by Management
  • Follows safe work practices as set forth by company standards, NFPA, and other codes in electrically classified and non-classified areas.
  • Uses Lock, Tag, Clear and Try procedure and other safe work procedures before beginning work on equipment and systems.
  • Work in PSM (Process Safety Management) rated and non-PSM facilities and strictly adhere to safety principles and policies as a condition of employment.
  • Read and understand schematics and P&ID’s.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment and electrical circuits as required by using specialized instruments such as multi-meters, clamp-on ammeters, oscilloscopes, and frequency meters and computers. Installs specialized troubleshooting equipment for diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoots process control computer systems, including but not limited to DCS, PLCs, control systems using portable computers; troubleshoots temperature, level, and pressure control instruments and processors; troubleshoots AC or DC variable speed drives and speed control systems.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on equipment, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of research equipment or perform scheduled maintenance repairs of same equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust field process equipment.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance and calibrations on equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, welding, cutting and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment such as power tools, test gauges, meters, drill press, pipe cutter and threader, reamer, gas torch, grinders, pipe benders, etc.
  • Ability to install, repair, replace all types of electrical equipment and wiring including the grounding procedure on all circuits.
  • Ability to learn new computer software systems and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to troubleshoot and maintain 12volt to 480volt systems
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controls and other control systems, human machine interface, motor starters/VFDs, Mechanical drive systems, conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
