About The Position

Install or repair electrical systems, apparatus andelectrical and electronic components of industrial machinery, equipment orfacilities. Investigate complex electrical, electronic, and associatedmechanical problems or breakdowns and make diagnosis based upon findings anddefine corrective action necessary. Troubleshoots or reworks electrical,electronic, or pneumatic control systems. This Job Classification shall maintain Level 2 in the relevant skills for theElectrician classification on the skills matrix. DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under minimal supervision or review performs the following.Other duties may be assigned as necessitated by Company productionrequirements. 1. Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment. 2. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment. 3. Plan layouts and install wiring and conduit as well as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets and other electrical devices that require hard wiring to the facility power supply. 4. Plan layouts and install telephone wiring and communications cables such as data processing lines etc., that require running inside walls, above ceiling or below floor. 5. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, pneumatic controls and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires, cables or other parts necessary to correct the malfunction. Performs troubleshooting or rework of electrical, electronic or pneumatic control systems. Able to use schematics and ladder diagrams in either electronic and/or printed format to determine issues, test components, and adjust parameters to help verify diagnosis. 6. Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunction with other maintenance workers as necessary to achieve consensus on the required course of action to repair the problem. 7. Replaces faulty electrical components of machines or equipment such as relays, switches, and motors. 8. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards, I/O cards, power supplies, controllers, HDMI, and other components. 9. Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors. 10. Monitors and tests electrical and electronic components as needed to maintain proper working order and avoid production delays. 11. Performs other maintenance trade work as required such as plumbing, carpentry, etc. when electrical workload is low Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department. Uses interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications. Assists other department members as required. 12. Keeps work area and shop clean. Disposes of packaging, scrap wire, conduit, and trash appropriately. Conducts and tracks spare part inventory. 13. Updates work in maintenance computer management system. Equipment/Process Responsibilities Performs duties on equipment, building, and grounds.Performs preventative maintenance tasks and breakdown repairs. Maintains owntool kit and advises supervision as to when special tools for particular tasksneed purchase or replacement. Material or Product Responsibilities - Performs duties that require closeattention to work, supporting documentation specifications and otherrequirements of basic electrical principles. Responsible for proper functioningof electrical and electronic components necessary to the efficient operation ofproduction machines and equipment Responsibility for Work of Others - Accuracy of communication is mandatory tosuccessful installation and/or repair of electric-related items. Must be able tocommunicate to appropriate personnel any problems or concerns regardingquality, safety or timeliness of work required, or components, tools orequipment issues. Must be able to train employees of equal or lowerclassification in electrical methods and procedures used by the company Safety Responsibilities - Good housekeeping, adherence to National ElectricCode, as well as compliance with company safety rules is required. Initiative and Ingenuity Requires initiative in maintaining all electric-relateditems. Makes suggestions for improving machines, equipment, lighting, wiring,etc. Uses ingenuity in planning, layout and devising proper installations orrepairs. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks arecompleted.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write English of a levelrequired in Company shop documents and computer software entry and processingrequirements as well as technical manuals.
  • Must be capable of applyingmathematical operations using fractions, decimals, algebra, and geometry asrequired by essential job duties.
  • Generally equivalent to journeyman tradeschool graduate or equivalent.
  • Requires 4 years at journeyman level or equivalent skillsand knowledge expertise in facility and industrial machine electricinstallations and repairs which are necessary to fulfill job requirements.
  • Musthave a journeyman's working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Mustread precision measuring instruments such as various gauges, meters, calipersand micrometers as well as wiring diagrams, machine schematics, blueprints andother documentation.
