About The Position

Take on a new challenge and apply your electrical engineering and test equipment design expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative and collaborative teammates. You'll play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining advanced test equipment and software for Propulsion and Train Control Management System electronics, contributing to the success of green technologies and solutions in railway systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, assemblers, purchasing, quality, and industrialization functions), supervise and mentor less experienced engineers, and ensure the delivery of high-quality designs on schedule—and much more.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical, or other related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience or understanding of test equipment design and development, including test software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of electronics, including analog and digital components, test principles, and test tools (e.g., In-Circuit, JTAG, functional test bench).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as LabVIEW or C.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Data analysis and troubleshooting skills for test bench maintenance and debugging.
  • Understanding of safety principles with high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) equipment.
  • Ability to develop and document test software to IEEE-1012 standard.
  • Experience in supervising and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Adaptability and willingness to travel to support project deployment (less than 5%)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting scheme critical analysis, troubleshooting investigations, and working with analog and digital components in the electronics domain
  • Gaining full technical understanding of the work assigned
  • Applying test principles and methods, including testability, test coverage, test tool capacity, and test validation
  • Utilizing test tools and means such as In-Circuit, JTAG, functional test benches, and programming languages like LabVIEW or C
  • Designing, maintaining, debugging, and troubleshooting test benches, including their structure and principles
  • Ensuring safety principles are adhered to with high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) equipment
  • Performing data crunching and analysis of test results to drive improvements
  • Supporting tender quotations for bench test projects
  • Guaranteeing the application of testing standards, including DFT rules, standard test platform usage, and maintenance rules, during product development to optimize productivity and test coverage
  • Defining software, hardware, and mechanical architecture of automated test benches in compliance with Alstom’s EHS and external standards
