Check out the IAMGOLD Blog Read about our Sustainability Approach About the role: We are actively looking for an Electrical Technologist Student that will support the Infrastructure Project Teams by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical and instrumentation work across site projects. This role provides hands‑on exposure to technical design, drawing updates, construction support, and commissioning activities. Working closely with engineers, procurement, and contractors, the student will gain practical experience in project workflows, documentation management, and electrical field coordination while contributing to safe, efficient project delivery.This role will be based our of our Cote Gold Mine Site (Gogama, ON), on a rotational schedule.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary Electrical Engineering Technology program (2‑ or 3‑year college diploma)
  • Strong technical aptitude in electrical systems, including the ability to read and update drawings and support basic design/field tasks.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when assisting with documentation, material take‑offs, and project coordination.
  • Collaborative communication skills to work effectively with engineers, procurement, contractors, and construction teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing, updating, and organizing electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, and instrument schematics.
  • Support engineering teams by preparing material take‑offs, collecting vendor documentation, and tracking project deliverables.
  • Help coordinate field activities by verifying installations, gathering measurements, and supporting commissioning tasks.
  • Perform basic calculations and assist with technical inputs required for design packages or scope documents.
  • Provide support during construction reviews by documenting progress, identifying discrepancies, and communicating findings to the project team.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, logs, and records to ensure alignment with design standards and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including procurement, maintenance, and contractors—to support workflow continuity and project deadlines.
  • Contribute to safety by following safe work procedures, identifying potential hazards, and assisting with field-level verifications.
