Intermountain Electronics (IE) is a leading provider and manufacturer of custom engineered Process, Electrical Control and Power Distribution turn-key solutions to the Data Center, Industrial, Power/Utility, Oil & Gas, Mining industries in North America. Reporting directly to the Electrical Assembly Supervisor we’re hiring Electrical Technicians of all experience levels — from apprentices and residential electricians to seasoned journeymen and master electricians. Requirements

  • Note: This role is not entry-level. Candidates must have prior on-the-job electrical experience.
  • Electrical Technician LV 1 • 2,000 hours of on the job electrician experience • Passes IE Electrical Technician 1 Competency Test with a score of 75% or higher
  • Electrical Technician LV 2 • 2,000-4,000 hours of on the job electrician experience • Passes IE Electrical Technician 2 Competency Test with a score of 75% or higher
  • Electrical Technician LV 3 • 4,000-6,000 hours of on the job electrician experience • Passes IE Electrical Technician 3 Competency Test with a score of 75% or higher
  • Electrical Technician LV 4 • 8,000+ hours of on the job electrician experience • Passes IE Senior Electrical Technician Competency Test with a score of 75% or higher & State Journeyman license in UT/CO
  • Senior Electrical Technician • 6,000-8,000 hours of on the job electrician experience • Passes IE Electrical Technician 3 Competency Test with a score of 75% or higher • Journeyman license in UT/CO
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand electrical schematics/ drawings and specification charts and make direct application to project set up and final product. Must be able to read, and understand production reports related to quality, and quantity.
  • Must be able to write NCR’s and comply with safety rules. Must be able to establish productive and effective communication ties and relationships with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and staff.
  • Ability to compute electrical calculations – ohms, resistance, voltage, fusing capacity, etc.
  • Must be able to accurately follow schematics and electrical drawings and wire match such.
  • Ability to understand and know company operation costs and production costs and production overrun costs.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to analyze and understand project plan documents and specifications and successfully resolve practical problems and they may occur.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to use computer to log in time and job hours.
  • For individuals based in Colorado or Utah where the individual is pursuing a Journeymen’s license through a state authority, and where IE is recognized in the state as a licensed contractor, they must maintain a valid apprentice license to receive signed hours towards that requirement. [Not required for IL or OH based employees]
  • Must possess valid OSHA forklift and Overhead Crane certification or ability to obtain such.
  • Must comply with and follow all IE safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Must operate and perform job duties in a safe manner. Must be able to operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Color Vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
  • Must be able to perform frequent heavy lifting and continual bending and standing on a concrete floor.
  • Work Schedule: Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from technical assembly prints to wire and install electrical components, switch gears, electrical switches and electronic instruments and devices, such as programmable process controllers (PLCs), data loggers, relays, breakers and other electronic instrumentation equipment used in the manufacture and repair of electrical power stations and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and make necessary repairs
  • Conduct electrical testing and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions. Determine reparability and cost to repair equipment, refurbish equipment and replace defective parts.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance. Perform installations compliant with current electrical codes and MSHA regulations
  • Responsible for assigned project completion, quality and delivery according to work schedule. Carries out initial control testing; ensures quality standards are met and signs off on end of project QA forms
  • Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, comes to work on time
