About The Position

The Electrical Technician specializing in Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of VFD systems. This role involves working with a variety of electrical equipment and systems to ensure that VFDs operate efficiently and reliably within industrial settings. The technician will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support the implementation of new VFD systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, be detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and operational excellence. Compensation commensurate with experience. This is a new position located in Wink, TX and reports to the VP Operations. Pilot Water Solutions (“PWS”) is the most reliable name in water midstream. Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance with a focus on VFD systems, including but not limited to ABB, Siemen, Rockwell Automation.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, VFD operation, and motor control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Skilled in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be deemed insurable by the Company's insurance provider throughout employment to be able to drive a Company vehicle
  • Able to travel to different job sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Installation & Commissioning: Installs VFD systems in compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Configures VFD parameters to match application requirements. Conducts testing and verification to ensure proper operation post-installation.
  • Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repairs: Performs routine preventive maintenance on VFDs and associated electrical systems. Inspects, cleans, and services VFD components such as cooling fans, heat sinks, and wiring. Updates firmware and software of VFDs as required to maintain optimal performance. Diagnoses and troubleshoots faults and issues within VFD systems using diagnostic tools and software. Repairs or replaces defective components, such as power semiconductors, capacitors, control boards, and power supplies. Analyzes and interprets electrical schematics and diagrams to identify issues and implement solutions. Identifies opportunities for improving VFD system performance and reliability. Collaborates with engineering teams to implement system enhancements or modifications.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintains a safe working environment by following proper safety guidelines including using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensures all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes, as well as company safety expectation and guidelines. Implements lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols when working on electrical systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and installations. Documents all changes in system configurations and parameter settings. Generates reports on the status of VFD systems and recommends improvements or upgrades as needed.
  • Technical Support and Training: Provides technical support to other team members and departments regarding VFD operations. Assists in training operators and maintenance personnel on VFD operation and troubleshooting. Stays updated on the latest VFD technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Participates in other assigned duties and projects based on business needs.
