About The Position

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the scope of construction work for all assigned solar renewable energy projects. This includes managing the installation of racking systems, trackers, mounting structures, and other mechanical components essential to solar farm construction. The role ensures all mechanical work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial mechanical experience (solar/renewable energy projects preferred) and 7+ years of supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Experience with installation of solar racking, mounting systems, trackers, and other mechanical components for utility-scale solar projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of relevant mechanical codes and standards (e.g., OSHA) and industry safety requirements.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Moderate to high proficiency operating project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, Blue Beam, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical documents, and installation manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe workplace by partnering with the Safety department, Safety committee, and Project Management to support policies, procedures, and practices for establishing a safe work environment.
  • Oversee and coordinate all mechanical construction activities related to solar farm installations, including racking, mounting, trackers, and mechanical assembly of solar arrays.
  • Control job progress by managing Subcontractors, solving problems and conflicts, using proper documentation, quality control, and safety control techniques on the job.
  • Monitor and control project costs through weekly evaluation of labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Oversee field productivity, cost control, quality control, and scheduling to ensure construction schedules and budgets are met.
  • Work with field and project management to address cost and schedule concerns.
  • Participate in job start and job close meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Management to troubleshoot job challenges and update job status.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies and procedures with field personnel and Subcontractors.
  • Provide leadership by building cooperative relationships, acting systemically, being decisive, and taking responsibility.
  • Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
  • Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, standards, and project specifications relevant to solar installations.
  • Review design drawings, inspect mechanical work, and ensure quality assurance and quality control at all stages of the project.
  • Other unlisted duties as assigned.
