About The Position

We are seeking an Electrical Safety Officer to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Responsibilities Serve as the primary contact on electrical safety tasks and administer the LANL Electrical Safety Program. Act as a resource for LANL employees and managers regarding electrical safety concerns. Conduct incident investigations and determine root causes, developing corrective actions as necessary. Perform workplace condition inspections to identify electrical hazards in various environments. Lead reviews of Integrated Work Documents (IWD) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Contribute to the development of codes, standards, and specifications for electrical equipment safety. Provide advanced support to engineers/scientists in solving complex technical problems. Participate in the evaluation of controlled items and services for compliance with electrical safety requirements. Perform calculations to determine electrical severity scores for incidents. Develop written electrical safety policies, procedures, and design standards. Requirements Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work. Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed. Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA, particularly NFPA 70E. Experience with electrical engineering/technology in various applications such as low voltage AC and DC systems. Significant experience with personal computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office. Demonstrated expert communication and organizational skills for presenting complex technical information. Ability to pass Radiological Worker II training. About the Site The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons.
