Safety Officer
About The Position
Under the general supervision of a Campus Safety Supervisor, this position is a member of a team of officers responsible for providing personal safety for members of the university community through a courteous, helpful and professional manner. This position provides a highly visual deterrent to campus crime while protecting the property and assets of the university. Provide security for persons, buildings, and assets of the university through a variety of security techniques and methods. Provide walking and/or vehicle escorts. Drive university vehicle to transport passenger(s). Assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicle. Assist students, staff and faculty in gaining entrance to secured areas when appropriate.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years’ security work experience and/or physical security and protection of assets training; emergency services experience including fire and rescue; military and/or law enforcement experience; experience using radio communications equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Act 34 clearance
- Complete University safe driver program with van certification within 30 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- Act 235 (preferred)
- Law enforcement certification (ex. Act 120)

Benefits
- $15.50 per hour
- Double time and ½ pay for designated university holidays.
- Vacation, personal, and sick time provided with full-time status and accrual.
