Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5–10+ years of electrical project management in industrial construction (refineries, chemical plants, power, manufacturing, terminals, mining, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience with MV/LV systems, switchgear/MCCs, instrumentation & controls, commissioning/startup.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and industrial owner standards.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 or MS Project, Bluebeam/AutoCAD (viewing/redlining), and MS Office.
  • Proven leadership of field crews and subcontractors; ability to manage multiple concurrent scopes under outage windows.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with brownfield upgrades, turnaround/outage planning, and arc-flash studies.
  • Familiarity with relay protection (SEL/Schneider/GE), VFDs, PLCs/DCS, and instrumentation (ISA standards).

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution: Own full lifecycle project management: scope definition, WBS development, budgeting, baseline schedule, risk plans, and execution strategy.
  • Lead constructability reviews and interface with engineering to resolve design challenges (switchgear rooms, cable tray routing, MCC layouts, grounding schemes, conduit fill, hazardous areas).
  • Develop project-specific electrical means/methods, work packages, and installation sequencing for high, medium, and low voltage systems.
  • Field Leadership & Coordination: Direct daily activities of electrical superintendents, foremen, and craft employees.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams to avoid clashes and ensure efficient tie-ins during outages and cutovers.
  • Manage subcontractors: prequalifications, SOW, RFIs, submittals, and performance.
  • Technical Scope (Industrial): Oversee installation and testing of MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, bus duct, UPS systems, lighting, grounding, controls, instrumentation, VFDs, relay protection, PLC panels, and power distribution.
  • Ensure proper cable management: tray/conduit layouts, pulling plans, terminations, megger/hipot testing, and documentation.
  • Manage I&E scope including loop checks, device calibration, P&ID verification, redlines/as-builts, and systems integration.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA and NFPA 70E electrical safety programs, LOTO, arc-flash boundaries, PPE selection, energized work permits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, client standards, and quality procedures.
  • Cost, Schedule & Controls: Own project budget, forecasting, earned value, and variance analysis; drive mitigation plans for cost/schedule risks.
  • Maintain and update schedules (Primavera P6/MS Project), including look-aheads, resource loading, and critical path.
  • Initiate/manage change orders, trend logs, and contingency.
  • Quality, Testing & Commissioning: Implement QA/QC plans: inspections, ITPs, FAT/SAT coordination, test reports, punch-list management, and turnover packages.
  • Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities with client/startup teams: energization plans, protection settings, functional tests, cause & effect, and system turnover (mechanical completion to final acceptance).
  • Stakeholder & Client Management: Facilitate progress meetings, status reporting, and risk/opportunity logs with owners and EPC partners.
  • Maintain clear documentation: daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change logs, as-builts, O&M manuals, and closeout.
