Job Summary TYLin is seeking a Power Engineer to join our Rail + Transit team in New York. This role is ideal for engineers with 5+ years of experience who are passionate about traction power systems and want to deepen their expertise in rail transit projects, including work for the MTA and other New York-area transit agencies. In this position, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and delivery of electrification projects, work closely with senior engineers, and gain exposure to complex transit infrastructure systems. You'll have the opportunity to develop your technical skills while supporting multidisciplinary project teams in delivering high-quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrification detailed design, construction, or consulting for rail or transit projects.
  • Knowledge of medium-voltage power systems, traction power systems, load flow, and fault current analysis.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation; Revit, AECOsim, Agi32, and SKM Power Tools preferred.
  • Understanding of local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review electrical design packages for traction power systems, ensuring compliance with client standards, MTA criteria, and applicable codes.
  • Perform load flow, fault current, and system studies for medium-voltage power systems.
  • Support the design, construction, testing, and commissioning of power systems within transit environments.
  • Assist with cutover planning and brownfield system modifications, ensuring safe integration of new and existing infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance documentation for traction power equipment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-Civil, Structural, Systems, Communications, and Project Controls-to support integrated project delivery.
  • Contribute to cost estimates, project schedules, and technical documentation, including reports and specifications.
  • Support senior engineers in design coordination and quality assurance tasks.
