City: DFW State: Texas TITLE: ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR/PLANS EXAMINER This job description generally describes the work of people in this job title. It may not be a plete list of duties. POSITIONS DIRECTLY SUPERVISED: · None GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general direction of the Sr. Facilitation Construction Manager or Sr. DCC Construction Manager, will assist in the enforcement and implementation of electrical codes for pliance of electrical systems during construction and alterations for life and safety. Performs construction document plan reviews and inspections for all newly constructed or modified facilities for code pliance of projects submitted by the Airport Board, Concessions, and Tenants for pliance with the National Electrical Code, the International Code Council (ICC) family of model codes, DFW International Airport Design Criteria Manual, DFW International Airport Code Amendments for Construction, Federal and State Regulations, Construction Standards and FAA Regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years' experience in construction inspections and/or construction document plan examination. Possesses and maintains an active status Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Master Electrician License and/or TDLR Journeyman Electrician License; International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Electrical Inspector Certificate; ICC Electrical Plans Examiner Certificate; ICC Commercial Energy Inspector Certificate; ICC Commercial Energy Plans Examiner Certificate; ICC Commercial Combination Inspector Certificate; ICC Combination Plans Examiner Certificate.
Any equivalent bination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code; ICC family of model codes; Local, State, and National Codes and Regulations relating to major construction development, electrical systems, energy conservation systems and building systems.
Ability to detect and correct non-plying items during construction document plan review and through inspection of the in-progress or finished work.
Ability to municate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain harmonious internal and external working relationships.
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days om date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport's Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with Designers, Engineers, Project Managers, Stakeholders, QA Construction Inspectors and Contractors to ensure efficient and effective pliance of DFW International Airport construction projects with the National Electrical Code, adopted ICC family of model codes, DFW International Airport Design Criteria Manual, and DFW International Airport Code Amendments for Construction through construction document plan review and construction inspections.
Performs construction document plan reviews and construction inspections in the designated electrical code discipline.
Ensures Airport facilities ply with FAA Regulations and other mandated design standards.
Records and documents inspection, plan review and testing results. Issues deficiency reports and monitors remedial work. Records re-inspection and retesting results. Ensures correction of all construction document plan review and inspection deficiencies.
Keeps abreast of new code changes and materials. Provides technical assistance as it relates to code interpretation and conformance, constructability, and quality assurance at each project phase om design through final inspection.
The incumbent functions under general review and at times autonomously, with the supervisor available to answer more difficult questions.
